This slow cooker sweet potato chili is a hearty mix of sweet and spicy that will rock your work lunch, weeknight dinner or game day party. Better yet, it’s Whole 30 approved and totally delicious!

  • 1 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 2 cans (14.5 ounces each) fire roasted diced tomatoes
  • 2 medium sweet potatoes (about 1 pound), peeled and cut into 3⁄4 inch pieces
  • 2 cups chicken stock
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 medium red bell pepper, coarsely chopped
  • 1 jalapeño, seeded and finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Garnishes
  • Avocado
  • Green onions

Instructions

  1. Heat large skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Add the beef; cook until brown, stirring and breaking apart as needed; drain. Add the beef to 5- to 6-quart slow cooker. Stir in remaining chili ingredients.
  2. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 to 5 hours until the sweet potatoes are tender.
  3. Serve the chili with avocado and green onions.
