Ingredients

Scale
  • Apple Cinnamon Steel Cut Oatmeal
  • 1 1/2 cups steel-cut oats
  • 1 very ripe banana, sliced
  • 1 medium apple, peeled and chopped
  • 1/4 cup almond butter
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 cups milk (almond, soy or dairy)
  • Toppers
  • Toasted sliced almonds
  • Almond butter
  • Sliced apples
  • Ground Cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Combine the oats, banana, chopped apple, almond butter and cinnamon stick in a lightly greased 4- to 6-quart slow cooker with the water and milk. Cover and cook on low heat for 7 to 8 hours until most of the liquid is absorbed and the oats are fully cooked. Discard the cinnamon stick and give the oats a good stir. Serve the oatmeal with desired toppings.
  2. Store any leftover oatmeal in an airtight container in the fridge. Add a splash of milk and reheat when ready to eat.
