Ingredients

Scale
  • Everything Bagel Seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon dried onion flakes
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon coarse Kosher salt
  • Cream Cheese Biscuits
  • 1/2 block plain cream cheese (4 ounces), very cold or slightly frozen
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 to 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, stir together Everything Bagel Seasoning ingredients, set aside.
  2. Cut the cream cheese into tiny chunks, about 1/4-inch pieces. It’s a little messy but a lightly greased knife and slightly wet hands will help. Freeze the cream cheese for about an hour or until frozen solid.
  3. Whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt. Break apart the frozen cream cheese pieces and add with the heavy cream to the flour mixture.
  4. Gently turn the dough once or twice to blend the cream cheese into the dough and very gently pat into a 7-inch square about 3/4″ thick.
  5. Use a sharp knife to cut the dough into 3 rows by 3 rows to get 9 square biscuits, place on a parchment lined baking sheet.
  6. Brush the biscuits with beaten egg and sprinkle with seasoning blend. Store remaining seasoning in an airtight container for up to 2 months.
  7. Heat the oven to 425°F. Place the baking sheet in the freezer for 30 minutes, to improve the texture of the biscuits. Bake 20 to 25 minutes, until golden brown. Remove from the oven; serve immediately.
